APrIGF 2025 Overview

APrIGF 2025 will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from October 11 to October 14, 2025. This event will bring together leaders, policy makers, and experts in internet governance from around the world. The venue for in-person attendees will be the Nepal Administrative Staff College, located in Jawlakhel, Lalitpur.

Nepal Entry Requirements

  1. Visa Requirements: Travelers from most countries can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You can also apply for an eVisa before your travel via the official Nepal eVisa website.
  2. Customs: Be aware of Nepal’s customs regulations. Prohibited items include wildlife products and certain types of drugs. Please refer to the official Nepal Customs website for detailed information.

Internet and SIM Card Options

Staying connected in Nepal is straightforward with several options for SIM cards and internet:
Namaste and Ncell are the major service providers with their desk on the arrival. In addition to these you can also try following options.

  1. eSIMs:
    a. Airalo:
    i. 10GB/30 days ($12)
    ii. 5GB/30 days ($7)
    iii. Various other plans are available, check their website for more details.
  2. SIM Cards: Upon arrival, you can easily purchase a SIM card at Tribhuvan International Airport or from convenience stores throughout Kathmandu. Major carriers like Ncell and Nepal Telecom offer affordable data plans.
  3. Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot: You can also rent portable Wi-Fi devices at the airport or in the city for multiple connections.
  4. Wi-Fi Hotspots: Free Wi-Fi is commonly available in most hotels, cafes, and the conference venue.

Transportation

From Tribhuvan International Airport to Kathmandu:

  1. Taxi: Available at the airport. The fare to the city center is around NPR 1,000–1,500 (USD 8-12).
  2. Airport Shuttle: Some hotels provide shuttle services, so check with your accommodation in advance.
  3. Private Transfers: For comfort and convenience, you can book a private transfer service, which will cost around NPR 2,000-3,000 (USD 15-25).

Navigating Around Kathmandu

Kathmandu has a range of transport options to explore the city:

  1. Taxis and Ride-Sharing: Taxis are readily available, but it’s recommended to use apps like Pathao or Indriver for a more transparent fare.
  2. Public Buses: Kathmandu has an extensive bus network, but it may not be the most convenient for first-time visitors.

Nepal Tax Refund
